HOBBITS & QUESTERS

The Hobbits (K&1^st grade) & Questers(2^nd & 3^rd grade) will mix and match this year, sharing the same curriculum of Experiences With the Web of Life. They will sometimes meet all together, and sometimes in separate groups, fulfilling our goal of creating a church family in all areas.

The curriculum involves the children with the 7^th UU principle of respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part. Learning to understand this principle is a deeply religious undertaking.

The goals of this curriculum are:

• to develop awareness of this interdependence and each child's place within the web of life.
• to encourage children's natural sense of wonder
• to gain awareness of, and comfort with, change and growth as characteristics of living things, including birth and death
• to develop respect for all living things
• to form a desire to protect the environment
• to enjoy nature

They will carry these goals out with hands on experiences first, with story and discussion afterwards. The children will hear Sunday after Sunday about the ways that specific living things relate to the rest of life.
