Our Whole Lives Classes
in Two Levels:
4th & 5th Grades and 7th - 9th Grades
Offered alternating years with Coming of Age
Coming January 2011
This is a comprehensive sexuality education program that understands that sexuality is an essential part of every person, one that affects our identity, relationships, and intimacy throughout life.
The program discusses sexual feelings and acts, sexual development, reproductive health, interpersonal relationships, affection, intimacy, body image, and gender roles. It is comprehensive based on age level, and the material is presented in a developmentally appropriate manner.
It is comprehensive in its philosophy, respecting the diversity of values and beliefs represented in the community.
It is also comprehensive in its goals. It does not intend merely to distribute information, but also to help students shape their values, build strong relationships, and learn to act responsibly. These goals are reached by looking at information, attitudes, values, insights, relationships, and interpersonal skills and responsibility.
The instructors in these classes are trained by staff from the Unitarian Universalist Association, and supported by the Minister and Director of Religious Education of Pacific Unitarian Church.
