Becoming A Member of our Faith Community

Choosing to become a member of Pacific Unitarian Church (PUC) means you:

Several woman behind our Welcome Table.
  • Feel that our church makes a difference in your life, giving it greater strength, depth, significance and direction.
  • Feel a sense of belonging and commitment to the progressive religious values this church represents.
  • Have a willingness to support the church with your ideas, energy, time and money, so that these values can be realized in our community.

Orientation Class: Intro to UU & PUC

We encourage everyone who is interested in exploring membership to first attend several Sunday services and then attend our Introduction to Pacific Unitarian Church & Unitarian Universalism orientation class. It is facilitated by Rev. John Morehouse and Denise Shiozawa, our Membership Director every third Sunday of the month after Service.

This orientation provides a brief overview of Unitarian Universalism and Pacific Unitarian Church; a chance to reflect on your individual spiritual journey; an opportunity to get to know us and for us to get to know you; and a time to get answers to your questions. Attending this orientation class is a prerequisite to becoming a member of our faith community. Childcare is available with notice to Membership.

If your schedule does not permit you to attend, please contact our Membership Director, or the PUC Office to make other arrangements.

Buddy Program

To help you get to know us better, we offer the Buddy Program to both visitors and new members. The program has two components - you may participate in one or both:

  • Buddy Matches: With this program you can be paired up with an established member to help you meet congregants and become familiar with the many programs and activities at PUC. Please complete our Buddy Request form to participate in the Buddy Matching Program: forms are available in the PUC office or online.
  • Buddy Mixers: Informal get-togethers (potluck dinners, picnics, etc.) are conducted every odd-numbered month. All visitors and new members are invited, whether you have a PUC Buddy or not. Look for announcements in our newsletter, The View.

An Invitation to Get Involved

Pacific Unitarian Church is its people. The time, talents, interests, and energy of our church family give it life and direction. Please consider participating in group activities that may be of interest to you. And when you feel comfortable, you may want to help PUC grow by volunteering for one of the many committees or programs we have available. Or perhaps you have your own special ideas and skills to contribute.

We invite you to visit us, get involved, and make good things happen!
