New to PUC?

Pacific Unitarian Church is a welcoming congregation.

Our services are open to all regardless of beliefs, financial means, race or sexual orientation.

We honor and support many spiritual paths towards meaning. Our Principles are the core values that form the foundation of our warm, supportive, and encouraging community.

Come as you are!

We tend to be informal and you are welcome to wear whatever you are comfortable in. A sweater or light jacket is often in order as it sometimes gets breezy on the hill.

Service and Coffee Hour

We invite you to join our one-hour Sunday Service at 10:30 a.m. Please stay for Coffee Hour afterwards on the Patio for refreshments and conversation. And, on the first Sunday of each month, Coffee Hour is expanded to a Potluck Brunch. This is a wonderful time to get connected with other congregants. Please bring a dish to share if you are able.

Order of Service

Our Order of Service format is much like worship services in other settings with a few Unitarian Universalist "twists":

  • Opening words and music
  • Chalice lighting
  • Singing
  • Children depart for Religious Education classes
  • Joys and sorrows
  • Meditation/Prayer
  • Choir or singing
  • Sermon/Message
  • Offertory
  • Closing song
  • Recessional

Upcoming sermon topics, service times, and special programs are posted on the home page and in our newsletter, The View.

Programs and Activities

Whether you are searching for spiritual growth, helping the larger community, looking for fellowship, or needing support, Pacific Unitarian Church has a variety of programs and activities open to both members and visitors. Please join our lay-led Humanist Forum or Spirtuality Forum before Service at 9:30 a.m. in the Shuder Library. In addition, you can choose to take advantage of our great Buddy Program and be matched up with an established Pacific Unitarian member for 3 months. Your "PUC Buddy" will introduce you to other congregants and familiarize you with these many programs and activities.

Orientation Class

To learn more, please attend our orientation class, Intro to UU & PUC, conducting every 3rd Sunday of the month after Service in Shuder Library. An overview of Unitarian Universalism and our specific faith community is provided. It is a great time to ask your questions. Registration is not required, but is appreciated. Child care is available with notice to the Membership Director. In the meantime, if you have any questions, feel free to email our Membership Director, or call the church office at (310) 378-9449.
